Barns and barndominiums in Drake
Drake sits in the Big Thompson Canyon on US-34, where the North Fork joins the Big Thompson River. Drake is about 33 miles west of our base in Ault, CO, and Larimer County is one of the three counties we build in.
Our builder is based in Ault and builds everything from hay barns and RV garages to finished barndominiums. In Drake that usually means detached garages, pole barns and barndominiums, along with metal shops, garages and metal buildings.
Up here snow and wind set the design. Trusses, purlins and girts are sized for the site's elevation, roof pitch and overhangs are chosen to shed snow away from doors, and the schedule is planned around a shorter building season. The quote is free: tell us the size, what the building is for and where the property is.

Building around Drake
We build all over Drake and Larimer County, from around Veterans Memorial Park, Palisade Mountain and North Fork Big Thompson River.
Northern Colorado asks a lot of a building: spring hail, strong winds off the foothills and across the plains, heavy wet snow, swelling clay soil along the Front Range, and cold winters followed by hot, dry summers. So every building starts with engineered plans for the site's snow and wind loads, footings designed for the soil and set below the frost line, a pad that drains, and insulation, vapor control and ventilation planned in from day one.
Not in Drake? We also build in Glen Haven, Masonville, Estes Park and Loveland and every other town in Larimer, Weld and Adams counties.

Do I need a permit for a barn or barndominium in Drake?
Almost always for a barndominium or any building people live or work in, and usually for shops and garages: the permit and inspections come from Larimer County's building department.
