Barns and barndominiums in Livermore

Livermore is a ranching community in the foothills on US-287 north of Fort Collins. Livermore is about 29 miles northwest of our base in Ault, in Larimer County, one of the three counties we build in.

Our builder is based in Ault and builds everything from hay barns and RV garages to finished barndominiums. In Livermore that usually means detached garages, pole barns and barndominiums, along with metal shops, garages and metal buildings.

Foothill parcels west of town are rarely flat: the work starts with a cut-and-fill pad, drainage around the uphill side and a frame engineered for downslope winter wind. Much of this ground falls in Larimer County's wildfire hazard area, so metal roofs and siding are part of the plan from the start. The quote is free: tell us the size, what the building is for and where the property is.

Building around Livermore

We build all over Livermore and Larimer County, from around Eagles Nest and Lone Pine Creek.

Northern Colorado asks a lot of a building: spring hail, strong winds off the foothills and across the plains, heavy wet snow, swelling clay soil along the Front Range, and cold winters followed by hot, dry summers. So every building starts with engineered plans for the site's snow and wind loads, footings designed for the soil and set below the frost line, a pad that drains, and insulation, vapor control and ventilation planned in from day one.

Not in Livermore? We also build in Laporte, Bellvue, Wellington and Fort Collins and every other town in Larimer, Weld and Adams counties.

Do I need a permit for a barn or barndominium in Livermore?

Almost always for a barndominium or any building people live or work in, and usually for shops and garages: the permit and inspections come from Larimer County's building department. Some agricultural buildings on qualifying farm or ranch land can be exempt from a building permit, but setbacks, zoning and engineering still apply. We handle the engineered plans, the permit and the inspections.
